We would like to share a couple of important news about the WOMBEC (World Mountain Bike Education Congress) 2024 - a congress where you spend more time on the bike seat than on a chair 🙂
The dates of the event have been moved to October 20 - 25th. We consulted it with all the registered guests and keynote speakers. As quite a few of you expressed regrets to be unable to make it in September due to your season still in progress we believe you will find this a good news.
We are excited to announce that WOMBEC has a new keynote speaker, Peter Schrottmeyer. Shrotti is the Head of the Bikeguide Austria and the training department of Cycling Austria. He is going to talk about the Austrian path to a national training standard in MTB Skills Coaching. Check the congress web for more info.
We have added options to come and join the congress for three or two days for adequately lower prices.
The congress program consists of workshops on trails, lectures, and round tables.
The fee also includes accommodation and meals as well as guided rides and tours and a special social evening at the Dance Hall in Račí údolí.
INVITATION TO THE WOMBEC 2024
Hi, our names are Jana and Ludek and we are the co-founders of the Czech Association of Mountain Bike Instructors and Guides (Bike Licence) and also of the Bajková škola bike schools operating at the Dolní Morava resort, Rychlebské stezky trail center, Ski resort Kraličák, and Mountain Resort Bukovka.
With 400 graduates, our Ministry of Education and Sport accredited certification program has been setting the standard of MTB Education in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. As individual members we maintain contact with the PMBIA.
We also teach and research mountain biking at the Palacky University's Faculty of Physical Culture, a partner and co-organizer of the congress. Our school has been an active player in implementing humanist principles in sport education.
What is the WOMBEC?
A congress where you spend more time on the
bike seat than on a chair.
The reason we're reaching out to you is that we went to organize the first World Mountain Bike Education Congress (WOMBEC) this fall.
The event will take place from 20th to 25th October 2024 in Černá Voda at the RYCHLEBY TRAILS.
The WOMBEC’s journey is at its very beginning but it is meant to become a regular event taking place at various trail centers in different countries. Whether it will be every two or four years is to be decided.
RECHARGE
While we look forward to you reflecting upon your practice, the WOMBEC congress is meant for the school operators to recharge. You can look forward to having fun and getting inspired. Above all, after a demanding season you will be able to enjoy being the ones who are looked after for change, not having to organize or worry about anything.
SHARE
Through workshops on trails, lectures, discussions and round tables all participants will be able to share their approaches to teaching MTB technique and shaping MTB culture. Together with other significant players in the field you will be able to set the basis for a living, interactive, modern standard of MTB education.
RIDE AND PLAY
You can expect a great deal of good riding and fun, inspiring teaching and learning on beautiful granite and flow trails.
CO-SHAPE
We really hope you find this event a step to establishing a truly international professional MTB education community. Besides your presence and giving your association representative, coach, or school manager insights during the event we believe you can help us get the word about the congress to colleagues in the field whose work you value and think they shouldn't be missing.
INFORM, COOPERATE, FORMULATE
No one owns the MTB education and no one probably should. While ethics are crucial, we all profit from the uniquely open MTB trail culture. The discussion panels and round tables you will be welcome to join are going to address teaching and riding good practice, standards, legislative trends, and safety protocols. At the end of the week we should be leaving with a well thought out and properly discussed draft of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
GRAB A BIKE
There’s no need to worry about the hassles of transporting your bike by plane. Enduro and trail bikes will be available for you to just grab and ride.
GENUINITY
The first WOMBEC is expected to be smaller in size. It is economically healthy though, and it is professionally sound. You can expect solid content as well as coming to a well thought out plan for further development.
ALL THE GENERATED KNOW HOW WILL BE PASSED ON TO A TEAM FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY WHO WILL BE INTERESTED IN ORGANIZING THE NEXT EVENT IN AN AGREED-ON PERIOD.
